David J. Faulkner announces his candidacy for the office of County Executive as an Independent on the August 2014 General Election Ballot.

David and his wife, Rene' (Gentry) Faulkner, a native of Cannon County, returned to settle in Cannon County in 2004 following his honorable retirement from military service. David and Rene' spent most of their time, while away from Cannon County, living overseas with David deployed to multiple military operations in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Southwest Asia, while Rene' held down the home front.

They have three daughters: Emily, a graduate of Cannon County High School (CCHS) and student at Motlow College; Rebekah, a senior basketball player at CCHS who has committed to Sewanee to play basketball; and Hannah, a junior Cross Country runner at CCHS.

Following military service, David founded DMPI-LLC to work with and train deploying soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines in order to prepare them for the rigors of combat in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

David is very active in Woodbury - First Baptist Church where he teaches a senior adult Sunday School class, sings in the choir, drives the bus in support of the Children's Ministry, leads Bible Drills, and fills in as the Music Leader and, on occasion, leads worship / delivers the sermon.

As I begin my campaign to become your County Executive, I want every citizen to know that I stand for transparent, efficient, effective, and accountable government for all of the citizens of Cannon County. I believe in local government that works hard every day to provide necessary services and opportunities for all citizens.

I also believe that those who work in government must view their duties in terms of service to the public; keeping in mind that a leader (e.g. office holder) is first among servants. In keeping with this attitude of service, government must be as un-intrusive in the lives of the public, must provide quality, timely services, and must do so at the least reasonable expense to the taxpayer.

As my campaign proceeds, I look forward to meeting as many of the citizens of Cannon County as possible, listening to your concerns and discussing ways to enhance your opportunities and quality of life.

I firmly believe that my spiritual, military, business and governmental experiences have distinctly prepared me to serve and lead Cannon County to enhanced levels of opportunity, competitiveness and quality of life in the 21st Century, while maintaining the traditional values and life-style we have all become accustomed to and cherish.

I appreciate your vote to allow me to serve this great county.
