Short Mountain Shine was introduced to Cannon County with the soft grand opening of the Short Mountain Distillery Friday and Saturday.

The "soft" grand opening gave the owners an idea they are going to have to significantly increase their workload to meet the demands of the consumers when the big grand opening occurs April 21st.

Officials did not keep tabs on how many people walked through the opening gate Friday. However they reported 788 people showed up on Saturday ready to take the tour of the distillery, purchase souvenirs and autographed bottles.

Both Friday and Saturday, demand was so overwhelming that the distillery sold out of Short Mountain Shine in just half a day. Tours will continue in the coming weeka on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After April 21st the tours will expand to five days a week, Tuesdays through Saturdays.

If they average 300 to 400 people daily for the tours they should consider opening up a restaurant and calling it "Shine Dining."

I visited Friday and Saturday since I live about a mile away. Short Mountain Distillery is very well done and an interesting place to visit. It will undoubtedly become a stop for many travelers in the region. I think it will be very sucessful and a plus for Cannon Co. TTT
