Robert Edward “Bob” Stoetzel

 Funeral services for Robert Edward “Bob” Stoetzel, 63, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. John Hembree officiating. Interment will follow with honors in Riverside Gardens.

 Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

 Bob died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville from a massive heart attack.

 Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Teresa Scott Stoetzel of Woodbury whom he married on Dec. 19, 1982; his children, Dustin (Taylor) Stoetzel of Short Mountain, Tracey “Kal” (Angela) Stoetzel of Woodbury, Candice Stoetzel of Woodbury and her boyfriend, Bruce Lee Payne, of Bellevue; stepchildren, Sam Alexander and Andy Alexander of Georgia, Jim (April) Alexander of Knoxville and Steve (Robin) Cumbie of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Sierra, Madison, Kara and Ezra Stoetzel; step-grandchildren, Sidney Anne, Kevin, Kaylee and Claudia Alexander, Kegan and Madison Cumbie; siblings, James (Vickie) Stoetzel of Oliver Springs, TN, David (Sara) Stoetzel of Oak Ridge, Kathy (Eric) Reynolds of Oak Ridge, Marlene (J.D.) Mayton of Coalfield, TN, Dan (Dee) Stoetzel of Knoxville, Mary (Jeff) Brooks of Knoxville, Judi (Phil) Seeley of Jupiter, FL, Michael J. Stoetzel of Murfreesboro; mother-in-law, Joy Scott of Woodbury; brothers-in-law, Steven and Marlena Scott of Hillsboro and Mark Scott of Woodbury; and his four-legged furry children, Honey, Cocoa, Princess and Rocky. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elaine Groppe Stoetzel, his wife, Charlotte Anne Cumbie Stoetzel, his sister, Geri Stoetzel and his father-in-law, Ray Scott.

 A graduate of the Oak Ridge High School Class of 1968, Bob was a veteran of the Navy where he served from 1968 to 1972. He started his career in law enforcement as an Oliver Springs Police Officer. He was a retired Tennessee State Trooper and was Sheriff of Cannon County from 1994 to 1998. Bob was a member of the law enforcement community for 29 years.

 Bob was raised Catholic but became a member of the Baptist Church from 1987 until 2009. He started attending Woodbury United Methodist Church in 2009 and has continued to worship there where he was a member of the church choir.

 He was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police, Patriot Guard, THP Road Law and on the Cannon County Commission.

 An advocate for organ donation, Bob received the gift of life on May 10, 2006 when he was a heart transplant recipient. Because of that donation, Bob himself was an organ donor and is now helping someone else’s family in their time of need.

 Bob enjoyed many things in life from riding his motorcycle, fly fishing, wood working, telling stories, talking about himself or hearing others talk about him.

 He loved God, his family and his country in that order.

 Pallbearers are his children, Dustin, Tracey and Candice Stoetzel, Sam, Andy and Jim Alexander, Steve Cumbie and his best friend, Doug Bodary.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodbury United Methodist Church or Tennessee Donor Services in care of Woodbury Funeral Home.
