Adams Library's Summer Program

Mr. Bond, the Science Guy, got Adams Memorial Library's Summer Reading Program off with a blast with a presentation that included Superman, the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man.

The session, held in the Jennings Community Room, had an enthusiastic standing room only crowd of youngsters, parents and grandparents all prepped to see all sorts of scientific tricks.

Following the theme of "Every Hero Has A Story To Tell," the next Thursday event (Thursday, June 11 at 1 p.m.) focuses on Woodbury's younger residents with "Community Heroes" as participants as they visit the 911 Center and other places that offer support to the community during emergencies.
It's Music with Mare and Nomad Thursday, June 18 at 1 p.m. Followed at 2 p.m. With a Songwriting Workshop. Registration is required.

Mare Wakefield was born with wanderlust embedded in her DNA and lived in eight different places by the time she was 10 years old. "It was a roller-coaster way to grow up, but my brother and I learned to fit in fast," she says.

For Turkish-born and German-raised Nomad, the journey was equally varied. His musical education began at the exclusive Istanbul State Conservatory and continued when he was awarded a scholarship to Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. In addition to working with Mare, the versatile pianist and composer has designed sound for film and TV, and has had pieces performed by symphony orchestras and in Boston's legendary Fenway Park.

The Nashville Zoo presents Zooper Heroes Thursday, June 25 at 1 p.m. There's a 75 person limit.

On Thursday, July 2 at 1 p.m. the Summer Reading Program moves to the Courthouse for a presentation on the Military Heroes of Cannon County.
Ray Doe Me guitarist will appear at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 at the library.

He emphasizes the music that surrounds us and is in us all! Everyone knows the major scale - Do Re Me Fa Sol La Te Do. It's stuck in your head, right? Ray Doe Me helps children (and adults) make connections with those simple notes. He demonstrates how they are the building blocks of music.
A fun, colorful Puppeteer Performance is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 23.

The Summer Reading Program will conclude Thursday, July 30 with a celebration from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event begins at 1 p.m. With Bob Tarter, "the Animal Guy." Tarter,a wildlife biologist has offered and presented many varied wildlife exhibits all while presenting different elementary, middle school and high school curriculum with foundations in biology and life science, geography, social studies and even foreign languages. The celebration will continue with refreshments, face-painting and other fun until 4 p.m. at Adams Memorial Library.
