The Trial Court Vacancy Commission is accepting applications for a Circuit Court judge in the 16th Judicial District, which covers Rutherford and Cannon counties.

The position becomes effective Sept. 1, 2018. The court was created by Chapter 974 of the Public Acts of 2018.

Qualified applicants must be licensed attorneys who are at least 30 years of age, have been residents of the state for five years, and are residents of the 16th Judicial District. Interested applicants must complete the Trial Court Vacancy Commission Application, which is available at www.tncourts.gov, and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by noon CDT on Monday, July 9, 2018.

NOTICE OF JUDICIAL VACANCY

Circuit Court 16th Judicial District Cannon and Rutherford Counties

Pursuant to Tenn. Code Annotated § 17-4-308 (d), notice is hereby given that the Trial Court Vacancy Commission will soon meet in the 16th Judicial District to initiate the process of filling the newly created Circuit Court, Part V position.

The position will be effective September 1, 2018 as a new circuit court judge to serve Cannon and Rutherford Counties. The court was created by Chapter 974 of the Public Acts of 2018.

Any member of the public, either lay or attorney, shall be entitled to attend the public hearing to express, orally or in writing, such citizen's objections to any suggested nominee for the judicial vacancy.

Any interested applicant must be an attorney licensed in Tennessee who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and must reside in the Judicial District. All interested candidates should submit a completed application (Trial Court Vacancy Commission Application) available on our website, to the Commission for its consideration. Applications should be submitted to the Administrative Office of the Courts by no later than July 9, 2018 at Noon CDT. The Commission encourages all candidates to submit applications as early as possible.

Each candidate must submit by the deadline the original signed (unbound) as well as a digital copy of the application in order to have his/her name placed on the list of candidates for the judicial vacancy for which he/she is applying.
