Funeral services for May Helen Gunter Jernigan, age 79, of Wartrace, TN will be conducted Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Coffee County Funeral Chapel with her son, Reverend Bob Jernigan and Brother Danny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Rivalries bring out the spirit of sport. Rivalry games can define seasons, create heroes and legends, and they also can turn families and friends against one another - at least for one night.
Some rivalries are born of familiarity and proximity, while some are defined by longevity of the teams involved. Absolute hatred is a primer to any good rivalry, in regard to sports.

A swearing in ceremony was held Monday night at the Cannon County Courthouse for persons elected to office during the Aug. 5 General Election. Circuit Judge J. Mark Rogers administered the oaths of office.
