The new Cannon County finance department will have a finance director in place when it opens its doors within the next six and a half months. In just 13 minutes of the second finance committee meeting in which two new members took part of, a motion was made by new committee member Karen Ashford nominated Diane Hickman for the position and almost all committee members chairman William Curtis, Brent Brandon, Randy Gannon, Russell Reed, Ashford and Wayne Hancock voted for Diane . Brent Bush had to abstain due to Hickman being a family member.
CTAS official Ben Rodgers reminded the committee that they had six and a half months to get the office up and operational.
Next up will be to draw out a contract for Ms. Hickman and find the space to put the office in.
Ms. Hickman has been the county accountant for many years before moving into this role.
