Frances Virginia "Fran" Paris passed away suddenly and unexpectedly January 10, 2021, at the age of 72. She was preceded in death by her parents, William O. Paris, Jr. and Annie Virginia Williams Paris. Fran is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Shirley Paris, niece and nephew, Amy Paris and Michael Paris; sister Robin Paris, and niece Jenny Paris-Cossu. She is also survived by her many dear and loyal friends from Woodbury and Nashville, from across the country, and around the world.
A 1966 graduate of Two Rivers High School in Nashville, TN, she later graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1970, with a degree in psychology. Fran worked for several years with foreign students at the university before traveling to California, and later to Alaska to work summers in the salmon canneries, eventually becoming foreman. After moving back to Knoxville, she trained and became an electrical journeyman. Fran moved to Woodbury, TN, in the early 1980s working locally, and for many years, setting up the electrical needs at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival. She also remodeled and refurbished houses in Woodbury and Murfreesboro, TN, and was a beloved landlord. Fran placed a high value on the arts and community service and volunteered at the Arts Center of Cannon County.
Fran will be remembered as a cherished and generous friend who cared for others and unselfishly shared her talents and skills. She will also be remembered for her love and care for animals, as a lover of art, literature and music, and for her yearly Chinese New Year's festival.
A memorial service will be held later in the summer. Location and time to be determined.
She touched the lives and hearts of many and will be missed. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Arts Center of Cannon County, 1424 John Bragg Highway, Woodbury, TN 37190; Human Rights Watch; or International Fund for Animal Welfare.
