R. A. Miller worked in cotton mills, on farms, and as a preacher until his eyesight began to limit his activities. At that time he started making whirligigs that were decorated with flat animal and human shapes cut from tin. In the 1980s Miller's yard was filled with hundreds of spinning windmills. He also made the tin cutouts independent of the whirligigs, which is what you see with "Shark."
Come and view this and other paintings on exhibit in Cannon Hall at the Arts Center of Cannon County. Cannon Hall is open 10 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
