Here is some late news from C.J. Hughes that I failed to get in last week's column: Beautifully put, we may not have come out in the top 20 runners at The 2016 State XC Meet BUT A'town students Kiley Hughes and Keilee Campbell (both Varsity Middle), Leighanne Dodd (JV Middle) are in the *Offical State of TN Cross Country permanent record books as being the best TN's middle school runners* all placing about midway in a pack of 308 middle school girls. It was a tough, narrow true cross country course squeezing in 308 of the Best of the Best State qualified TN best middle school runners in Knoxville.
Same proud words speak for Lily Hughes and Bailey Campbell on the Elementary team. They and all elementary runners, set new personal record times at state beating their regional qualifying time. Way to go 3rd through 5th grade runners!
These Auburn students made their school, teachers, and county proud! The Cannon County Middle school and elementary teams are an amazing group of runners with only room to grow and set new PR's next season. We look forward to your success to come.
Richard and Barbara Harris, Macon, GA spent the weekend with us leaving out Sunday. They were here specifically to attend Barbara's cousins' reunion and to visit with Jewell Dale who is spending some time here.

That night the town and surrounding area were filled with traveling candy hunters dressed in various costumes. We even had some bacon and eggs to stop by our house. Witches and werewolves were reported to behanding out some goodies.
Our night ended with the annual chili supper with trimmings. Baked potato soup was also available. This year's "centerpiece" was a "wormy" cake with mice on top trying to get to the worms!!
