Former Cannon County High School Baseball star Danny Young, was found deceased in his Smyrna home Sunday morning. Danny was a star pitcher and the only Cannon County Lion baseball player to make it to the big leagues after being drafted in 1990 right out of high school. Danny spent his career pitching in various minor league systems. Danny was called up to the Chicago Cubs in 2000 and made his major league debut on March 30th. After the 2000 season, Danny retired from baseball.
Danny was inducted into the Cannon Courier Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2019.
After retiring from baseball, Danny continued to give back to the Cannon community by teaching young people the game of baseball. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
