206 BIRTHDAY: Sunday Drive is coming to Woodbury! This award-winning trio is known for their family harmony, warm, smooth voices and humor. They are coming for an exciting musical event on May 20 at the First United Methodist Church. This event will include the celebration of the birthday of the Church at Pentecost, the church's 206th birthday, and a covered dish luncheon for everyone. Jeff Treece, Misty Treece, and Dusty Treece make up this award-winning trio. Their God-given talent has garnered them numerous awards including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, and many others. GOOD OLE DAYS: Good Ole Days 2018 will be held May 18 and 19 at the Courthouse Square in Woodbury. One of the highlights of this year's event will be the Middle Tennessee Mule Skinners Mule Show at the Cannon County Fairgrounds on May 19. On May 18 events kick off with school events at Dillon Park and the opening event on May 19 is the Cannon Ball Run. BLOOD DRIVE: The next Red Cross Blood Drive on May 17, 2018, will feature prizes, drawings, gifts from Cannon county businesses because it Donor Appreciation month. One drawing will feature a $100 cash prize donated by Woodbury Lions Club. The Woodbury Lions is hosting the drive at its building located on the corner of West Adams St. Hours to donate is 12 noon until 6 p.m. Many thanks to the 59 donors at the March drive. DEMOCRATS TO MEET: The Cannon County Democratic Party will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.at Bird Song Studio. Bird Song Studio is located at 213 W. BULLER AND LEE TO PERFORM: Becky Buller and Nate Lee will perform at Bird Song Studio on Saturday, May 19. In 2016, Becky Buller made bluegrass music history by becoming the first person ever to win in both instrumental and vocal categories at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards. In 2017, Becky and her bluegrass band recorded a video for her new single, "Speakin' To That Mountain," right here at Bird Song Studio. Nate Lee will accompany Becky on May 19th at Bird Song Studio. Nate is an IBMA award-winning instrumentalist and renowned teacher of private lessons and music camps. While attending the Bluegrass & Country Music Program at South Plains College, Nate joined the Alan Munde Gazette. He toured with the band for six years and played fiddle on their second release Made To Last. After moving to Nashville in 2012, Nate toured with Irene Kelley, Town Mountain and the Jim Hurst Trio. GILLEY HILL CEMETERY: Saturday, May 26 is the annual business meeting at Gilley Hill Cemetery Community Center at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 27 is Decoration Day. Church service will be at 11 a.m., then pot luck dinner at noon. We have the new cookbooks. HEALING FIELD: What has become Murfreesboro's iconic Memorial Day salute will return May 26-28. Continuing an ten-year tradition, the Noon Exchange Club of Murfreesboro will host an inspiring formation of U.S. flags in tribute to our veterans, our military, and our personal heroes Memorial Day weekend. The Healing Field® Flags of Remembrance will again be held at 265 West Thompson Lane at the First United Methodist Church field. A grassy field posted with hundreds of U.S. flags presents an unforgettable panorama of red, white and blue that has earned the description "healing" as part of its name. The memorial will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 26 and close at 5 p.m. Monday, May 28. Flag sales, which can be dedicated to the memory of a living or deceased veteran, cancer survivor or anyone the buyer would like to recognize, will be made in advance of the event or on the last day after the closing ceremony. Proceeds benefit the youth, community service and Americanism projects of the Noon Exchange Club whose National Project is the Prevention of Child Abuse, including its local outreach through The Family Center. 60TH REUNION: The 1958 Woodbury Central High School 60th Class Reunion will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Cannon County Senior Center at 609 Lehman St. from 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
SUMMER TRIP: The West Side Travel Group will be touring sites in Washington D.C., New York City and Pennsylvania from June 3 - 8, 2018. The trip will consist of 5 nights and 6 days of sightseeing and fun. Included in the cost will be hotel fee, coach bus transportation, admission cost to attractions and meals. The cost will be approximately $500-$550 more or less depending on the number of people traveling on this trip. All ages are welcome. Get your name on the list early. DECORATION DAY: The annual Decoration Day for Banks Cemetery in DeKalb County will be Sunday, June 3rd. Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church will also have their annual Homecoming Day. Sunday School begins at 10:00 and worship at 11:00 with lunch at noon. Everyone is invited. Please make plans to attend.

FIREWORKS COMING: The 4th of July Fireworks Celebration will be here soon. The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 has the mission of conducting the Fireworks Celebration Event for 2018. It will be another great event for our community and all of Cannon County. There will be live entertainment, plenty of good old down home music, food booths, and fun and games for the children, and of course GREAT FIREWORKS to top off a great day of fun for all. Be sure and put Wednesday, July 4, 2018 on your calendars. More info will be coming out on WBRY and in the Cannon Courier - so stay tuned.
