ELECTION NOTICE

PRESIDIENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY & COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

MARCH 6, 2012

OFFICIAL OFFICE HOURS: The Cannon County Election Commission Office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. in the Adams Office Building, Room #244, (Tatum Street Entrance) (closed Saturday) Telephone (615) 563-5650

NOTICE TO ELDERLY AND DISABLED VOTERS: Assigned to precincts where the polling place is inaccessible may vote (1.) by absentee ballot according to absentee voting regulations, (2.)  Early voting by personal appearance at the Election Office during specified dates, or (3.) at the Election Office on Election Day.  Any elderly or disabled desiring to vote at the Election Office on MARCH 6, 2012  must notify the Administrator of Elections in writing of their intention to do so.  Such voter shall complete an affidavit at the Election Office stating that their designated voting location, to the best of their knowledge, is inaccessible.  The affidavit must be received by the Election Commission not less than (10) days prior to the first election in which such voter plans to vote at the Election Office on Election Day.  Such affidavit must be received by the Election Commission by FEBRUARY 25, 2012 for this election.

***REGISTRATION DEADLINE***

The last day to register to vote in the MARCH 6TH  elections is MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2012  at the Election Commission Office.  You may register to vote at the Cannon County Election Commission office during regular hours, or you may register at the Health Department, Department of Human Services, Department of Motor Vehicle or Department of Veterans Affairs. You may also pick up by mail registration forms at the office of Register of Deeds, County Clerk's Office, Adams Library or all Post Offices in Cannon County.  Voters that use "by mail" forms to register for the first time must vote in person at either their polling place or during Early Voting.  Registration by-mail forms must be postmarked FEBRUARY 6, 2012  to be processed for this election.  NOTICE: Forms dropped at the Post Office or in postal boxes must be deposited early enough to be picked up that day for postmarking.  Any forms postmarked after FEBRUARY 6, 2012 will be held and processed after the MARCH 6TH election.

***ADDRESS OR NAME CHANGE***

Voters that are already registered to vote in Cannon County may change their address or name by sending in their old registration card with the corrections; or, by sending a note requesting the change over their signature; or, by making the change while casting your vote during Early Voting; or, by making the change by a by-mail registration form and sending it to the Election Office.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL REGISTERED VOTERS OF CANNON COUNTY THAT HAVE MOVED WITHIN THE COUNTY OR HAD A NAME CHANGE TO MAKE THESE CHANGE AS SUGGESTED ABOVE.  VOTERS WHO FAIL TO DO SO PRIOR TO THE ELECTION WILL EXPERIENCE A DELAY IN VOTING AND MAY HAVE TO TRAVEL TO A DIFFERENT PRECINCT TO VOTE.
