The way this year has gone, we should have guessed that weather would be an obstacle for the Grand Opening last Saturday. But, the roof is going on this week and we expect the festivities to begin at 9:00 A.M. at the Cannon County Farmers Market.
Along with refreshments we will have drawings for door prizes at 9:30. So come early and register for the door prizes prior to the ribbon cutting ceremonies. Words cannot express the excitement the community has shown for this facility.
We look forward to a great partnership with the Arts Center of Cannon County for years to come and invite you to come out to the Market to enjoy the fellowship along with a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Come out and be a part of this historic Grand Opening of the Cannon County Farmers Market.
Last week's offerings showcased a couple of items which were old time favorites for those dropping by the Market. Mrs. Irene Hollis had a green tomato cake (black walnuts, raisins, butter to name a few ingredients) and Harold and Earlene Duggin had a big ole box of Damson Plums. Both of which will be available this coming Saturday. Several of the producers have large quantities available for those needing vegetables to preserve.
For those looking for locally grown farm fresh vegetables, drop by the Cannon County Farmers Market this Saturday, August 24th for a great selection of fruits, vegetables and baked good including; beans (blue lake), butternut, cucumbers, eggplant, fresh herbs and flowers, peppers (Anaheim, bell, banana, Poblano, cayenne, jalapeno, sweet banana), okra, potatoes (Irish new potatoes), squash (zucchini and yellow), sweet corn, tomatoes (red, yellow and green), watermelons, assortment of squash.
