Cannon County Director of Schools issued the following statement this morning:
"Cannon County Schools Officials received information on Wednesday evening, September 25th, 2019, about a possible firearm brought to Woodland School on Wednesday, September 25th, 2019. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating and all students are safe.
Keeping our students safe is our top priority. We know these situations alarm parents/guardians and school personnel, but we want to thank parents and students for continuing to be vigilant and for reporting any suspicious activity they see. Doing so is one of the best ways to assist us with maintaining a safe campus.
Cannon County Sheriff Department SRO personnel will be on hand at Woodland School on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. Cannon County Schools sent out a Bright Arrow Parent Message via telephone the morning of Thursday, September 26th, 2019 to Woodland School parents informing them of the situation which stated, "Information received Wed. Evening, 09-25-19, about possible firearm at Woodland School on Wed. Law Enforcement investigating. ALL students are safe. W.F. Curtis."
This is an on-going investigation by officials of the Cannon County Sheriff's Department involving a juvenile."
