High school coaches in any sport will be quick to say it's hard to beat a team three times in one season. The theory came true Tuesday night as the Cannon County Lionettes girls soccer team notched their first win in three contests against York 3-0 in the semifinals of the District 7-AA tournament. York swept the regular season series but Cannon won the most important game of all knocking York out of the postseason on their home turf as they host the postseason event. Cannon moves on to play Smith County Thursday night in Jamestown at 6p for the championship. This marks the first time in program history the Lionettes advanced to the championship game.
The winner of the championship game hosts a semifinal region game October 20th with the loser having to go on the road to play the winner of the District 8-AA tournament. The region championship is scheduled for October 22nd.
