Historical Society To ‘Return To Hollow Springs’

The Cannon County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at 6:30 p.m.at the Cannon CountySenior Center at 609 Lehman Street, in the small dining room area. Those attending should enter under the awning.

The featured guest speaker will be Aubrey Rogers (Mrs. Charles) Cawthorn. Her subject will be “The Hollow Springs Community” of Cannon County.

Cawthorn will provide historical and current information about Hollow Springs’ churches, country stores and the HollowSprings School’s former students, teachers and basketball team, and about the Jimmy Cawthorn Gun Manufacturing Shop on the headwaters of Mill Bluff Rd. The shop was very active during the Civil War.

She will also speak about Gilley Hill and Bradyville.
