Cannon County’s Industrial Development Board will auction two pieces of industrial property at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
Up first is 475 Bryant Lane, a 10,000 square foot commercial building, at the corner of Bryant and South College Street.
Second on the list is 47 acres zoned Industrial 1 at the cul-de-sac at the end ofAlexander Drive. Water, electricity and natural gas are available at the road.
The auction was part of the discussion at Tuesday night’s IDB meeting.
“There’s been a lot of activity concerning the property,” said IDB chairman Randall Reid, who added he was unsure how the sale would go. “It could go anyway.”
"It’s not benefiting us (the county), that’s why we are selling it,” said IDB vice-chairman Doug Bodary.
Reid said, “its been questioned if we have the authority to sell it.”
The chairman then read from a portion of the IDB’s charter that said the panel can do what it sees fit with the land.
“We aren’t overstepping our bounds,” Reid said.
“Yes, you have the authority,” said IDB attorney Sumner Bouldin.
