J.D. Vickers

J.D. Vickers, age 78, passed from this life on July 27th, 2022. He was a Cannon County native and resident of Shelby, North Carolina.

He was the son of the late Willie D. Vickers and Louzetta (Blair) Vickers of the Short Mountain Community. Mr. Vickers was also preceded in death by five siblings William Austin, Glen Wood, John, Juanita Anderson and Louise Bogle.

He is survived by one sister, Judy Coppinger of McMinnville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

J.D. was an insurance agent and district manager for several years in Texas. Later he owned an 18-wheeler and drove from coast-to-coast for several years.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 3:00pm at the Short Mountain Church of God. Officiating will be Chad Coppinger and Kenneth Vickers. Interment will be in the Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery.
