James Loyd Mears Sr.

Mr. James Loyd Mears Sr., age 88, of Hillsboro, TN, passed from this life Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Murfreesboro, TN.

Mr. Mears was born in Woodbury, TN, to his late parents Charles Mears and Nora Stacy Mears. He owned and operated Mears Paper for 10+ years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mears; brothers, Charles Mears, Max Mears, and Ray Mears; great grandson, Paul Rogers.

Mr. Mears is survived by sons, James Mears Jr. and Kevin Mears (Chandra); daughters, Tana Varner (John), Cheryl Green (Mike), and Robin Bynum; sisters, Ruth Davis Rogers, Dorothy Tucker, Wanda Davis, and Brenda Jaco; grandchildren, April Sitterson, Beth Bowden, Kristi Southerland, Cara Bullington, Kyle Miclean, Lindsay Meave, Lorrie Bynum, Ethan Mears; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Central Funeral Home in Manchester, TN. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following visitation at 1:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McMahan Cemetery in Cannon Co.
