The Cannon County Lionettes fell behind in the second quarter and could not catch up in a 70-53 loss to Ridgeview Virginia in the semifinals of the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Smoky Mountain Winter Classic Wednesday. The Lady Wolfpack head to the championship of the yellow bracket while the Lionettes will play for the consolation in a rematch against Grace Christian Academy out of Franklin TN. The Lionettes won 60-46 in Woodbury at the Cody Bailey State Farm Classic in November. Bella Pelham had 19, Jalin Fann with 16 to lead the Lionettes in the loss. Ridgeview went 24-34 from the free throw line.
Today's game against Grace Christian will start at 10:00E/9:00C this morning.
The Cannon County Lions will be playing in the fifth place game thanks to Colton Kennamer. Kennamer knocked down 5 three point shots to help lead the Lions to a 58-39 win over Middle Tennessee Christian from Murfreesboro. Gus Davenport led all scorers with 33. Kennamer's 15 were all scored in the second quarter.
Cannon will play Hayden Alabama in the fifth place game of the blue bracket today at 4:00E/3:00C
