Lionettes turn back Livingston

Cannon County swept Livingston Academy in the final District 8-AA series of the regular season.

The Lionettes (15-10) won 3-2 at Livingston Monday (April 29) and completed the sweep with a 6-2 triumph at CCHS Tuesday (April 30).

Cannon County lost the services of standout Macy Williams due to injury during the series and was lost for the season.

Her absence hampered the Lionettes as they dropped a 5-2 decision to Livingston Academy in the first round of the District 8-AA Tournament Friday (May 3).

The tournament was scheduled to resume Monday.

Brianna Nichols went 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead the Lionettes to a 3-2 win at Livingston Academy Monday.

Macy Williams also was 2-for-3.

The Lionettes trailed 2-1 after five innings but scored one in the sixth and one in the seventh to rally for the win. Kristen Hale picked up the win with a complete-game effort. She struck out five. Hale also had two hits at the plate.

The Lionettes finished the sweep Tueday. Nichols and Cheyenne Fann had two hits each. Cannon County exploded for four runs in the first innning on Senior Day and never looked back.

Hale notched the win.
