Gritty play and stingy defense helped key Cannon County’s 2-1 soccer victory against Bledsoe County at CCHS Friday.
Jessie Parsley and Simon Morey provided the offense and Kyler Walker earned his second win in goal. Walker didn’t have to work too hard this time.
The Lions defense was outstanding as it allowed just five shots all night and only two were on goal.
“The win was a testimate to the strength of our defense,” CCHS Soccer Coach Shannon Gannon said. “It was a very physical game.”
Cannon County erased a 1-0 lead when Parsley scored off a 40-yard free kick in the first half.
The score remained 1-1 until Simon Morey split the defense on a breakaway and lit up the Bledsoe County keeper for a goal to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. It would prove to be the game winner.
Sam Sissom, Wilder Mankin, Marshall McReynolds and Parsley helped key the Lions strong defense.
