“It is with great pleasure that DTC announces our intentions to televise select football games at the high school level, within our service area,” said Nick Nokes, Program Director and Marketing Administrator for DTC TV. “We know the importance of high school athletics in our local communities, and it is exciting for us to have the opportunity to broaden the exposure of these outstanding student-athletes, through our local television service.”
The football games will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis exclusively on myDTC3, the local television channel available only to DTC TV customers. myDTC3 has already been televising other events of local interest, such as Chamber of Commerce Programs, the DeKalb County Spelling Bee, the Cannon County Good Ole Days, various local Parades, Shade Tree Pickin’ at the Smithville Fiddler’s Jamboree, and the DeKalb and Smith County Fairs. More local programming, in addition to high school football, is scheduled for the coming months.
“This is one of the most exciting times we can remember at DTC,” Nokes stated. “We have always tried to be big supporters of the communities we serve, in addition to school activities. Now, we have the opportunity to show our support through our new local TV service, which we feel will be of great interest to those in our local area.”
Playback of these games will take place exclusively on myDTC3 on Saturday nights, with another playback scheduled for another night of the week, likely Tuesday or Thursday. The complete playback schedule can be viewed on www.DTCcom.net.
The local football telecasts will feature an on-site pre-game show, complete game action, a halftime show and a post-game show. Players, coaches and fans will also be featured in interviews during the selected games.
Former WJLE sports director, Tom Duggin, will handle the play-by-play duties for the telecast, while former WJLE play-by-play announcer and color analyst, Darvin Gill, will provide game analysis.
DTC’s regular season football broadcast schedule will kick off on Friday night, August 21st, with the Cannon County Lions hosting the Spring Hill Raiders. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., with pre-game festivities slated to start at the school around 5:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out for tailgating festivities and to take part in the recorded telecast of the pre-game show.
