A member of Rosedale Hills Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mancia was choir director and very active with various programs in the church. She was actively taking piano lessons, something she always wanted to do. She retired from the Food and Drug Administration where she has worked for over thirty years. This allowed her more time for traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
Mancia was best known for her love of cats, often called "the cat lady" within her neighborhood. She cared for two colonies of feral cats, feeding and trapping to spay and neuter before finding homes for them or returning them to her own backyard. Additionally, she worked part-time at the local veterinarian's office primarily for the discounted veterinary care of her beloved cats.
Her memorial service will be held at Woodbury First Baptist Church on October 12, 2024, at 2:00PM with Brother Dean Anderson officiating. No interment will follow as Mancia chose to donate her body to cancer research after an extended illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodbury First Baptist Church.
