Maurice R. Carter, 72, died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Cannon County, he resided in Murfreesboro.

Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Pearl Holt Carter; 2 brothers, Alton and Stanton Carter and a sister, Evelyn Jones. A member of the Dillon Street Baptist church, he was a retired business owner.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Anita Carter of Murfreesboro; 3 sisters, Jean Miller, Betty King and Wanda Farless, all of Woodbury; a brother, Wayne Carter of Westland, MI; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Thursday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Curt Wagoner and Bro. Joe Sissom officiating. Burial is in Riverside Gardens Cemetery.Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, February 27 at Woodbury Funeral Home.
