Merrick Taylor

Mr. Merrick Joseph "Rick" Taylor, Sr., 80, of Woodbury died April 6, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1930 in Louisiana. His parents were the late Ozema & Rita (Wills) Taylor . He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary L. Taylor and Newton W. Wright; four brothers, Charlie Taylor, Mason Taylor, Martin Taylor and Patrick Taylor and three sisters, Bessie Taylor, Denise Taylor and Louise Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 49 years Marydella (Landon) Taylor of Woodbury; sons Merrick & Lynn Taylor of Mobile, AL, Larry & Charmaine Taylor of Woodbury ; daughters, Sheila Holt of Woodbury, Pam Cawthorn of Woodbury , Sharee Seiffert of Woodbury , and Lori & Russell Vogel of Woodbury; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and devoted friends, Tommy Miller and Sherry Lynn Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Woodbury United Methodist Church. He loved truck driving and had been associated with Weaver's Trucking for many years after moving to Woodbury.

Visitation will be held on Friday April 8, 2011 from 3-4 PM at Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 PM in Riverside Cemetery with John Hembree officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Woodbury United Methodist Church or the Tennessee Kidney Foundation by contacting Smith Funeral Home.
