Cannon County’s tennis teams finished in the top half of their District 8-A/AA races during the regular season.
The Lionettes (6-3, 6-1) turned back Friendship Christian, 6-1, but lost to Central Magnet 5-2 in the regular-season finale to finish second. The Lions (5-4, 5-2) also split last weekend, defeating Friendship Christian but losing to Central Magnet to finish third.
Jordan Hollis, Katie Hickman, Camille Gilley and Kristen McReynolds earned singles victories against Friendship. Hollis and Gilley won at No. 1 doubles and Sarah and Katie Hickman won at No. 2.
Hunter Brown, Cole Kaney, and Jeffery Northcutt won in singles as the Lions turned back Friendship Christian 5-2. Taylor Blanton and Hunter Brown won at No. 1 doubles, and Daxton Patrick and Northcutt won at No. 2.
Katie Hickman and McReynolds earned singles wins against Central in a 5-2 setback. Kaney and Northcutt earned singles wins in a 5-2 setback against Central.
