News from the Mountain

Don't know what we're going to do, if we keep getting this rain. We got 1 1/2 inches of rain at our house on this past Sunday the 18th. I thought the mowing on our yards was going to taper off now but until the rain tapers off, we're just going to be happy getting the exercise and all that fresh and clear mountain air. That will do our bodies good I would think. I guess you are feeling that way about the weather, too.

Cool, crisp morning to be sitting outside and enjoying the calmness and the beauty of everything around me this Tuesday. Seems like fall got in a hurry to be with us earlier than usual this year. The mountain I'm looking at is gently changing the colors of its trees very slowly. It will put on quite a display of magnificent colors in the not so distant future. Fall sure is beautiful isn't it? Do take the time, if necessary to grab a few moments here and there to take it in. Plan some wonderful get-togethers with family and friends that will linger. You will treasure that for sure. So don't let the splendor of fall and all it has to offer slip through your fingers.

Got the pumpkins to wind up my decorating for fall. All is well now at the Gunter household as I'm ready for fall to come and visit for a spell as the welcome mat is out. I do love the way so many people make their homes and lawns so extra beautiful this time of the year don't you? In just a little while you can come up with a game plan to decorate your place so everyone will take notice. So dress it up with your own ideas. You'll be happy with the results. Just being outside and enjoying doing this makes it a double-good experience sort of like chewing that double-mint gum for this girl and it will you, too.

As I've written in the column before, this is not my column. It is the Lord's column. He inspired me to start writing it, after I had prayed to Him to help me about Aubrey. As only God can do, He knew I had always loved to write since I was a little girl, so He impressed one me to do just that. To Him do I give the glory. I am only a servant to be of service to Him while I'm living here. To bless others is a wonderful thing to do on our part. I do not do what others would want me to do. I do what the Lord wants me to do. Writing about the little green men meant so much to the late Mr. Dewey Corley as his daughter Joann Shipper related to me. A kind gesture of caring is such a small thing to do. We can and should make that an everyday occurrence in our lives. I'm writing about Chloe Evelyn Bogle as I feel led by the Lord to do. She blessed me and countless others. As they say you did good Chloe Evelyn! One more terrific Christian lady is now in the presence of Jesus her Lord and Savior. I'm speaking of Chloe Evelyn Bogle age 83 who passed away on Sunday, September 28 2016. She doesn't need our prayers to get well now as she's simply in heaven healed from head to toe praising the One she was truly living for. Loved her dearly as she set quite an example for all of us to follow in living a Christian life here. She spoke of the Lord always and how good He had always been to her. I admired her so very much because God was number one in her life, not money, land or the material things so many put stock in that are their God. Chloe Evelyn, you stood for what truly counted in this world our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Gonna be seeing you again one of these days. You can count on that. Maybe we'll get to talk about the love you and I both shared for our flowers that gave us so much pleasure. We will all be missing you in our lives here, until we catch up with you there, Chloe Evelyn. Never will you be forgotten I know that when you come to mind, which will be often, I'll be thinking about that white robe and that crown you're wearing with more jewels in it than I could possibly count. Until then, I will be loving and missing you, Carol.

Please keep in prayer Chloe Evelyn's family at this sad time, also Ruth Brown, Fay Pitts, Edith Miller, Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Charlie Mai Daniel, and Denise Stanton.

He leadeth me beside the still waters, He restoreth my soul.
