I'm not going to say too much about the 2 inches of rain we got last night, because I remember last year we were having some good rainfall every few days and then the drought set in on us. I was mowing twice a week during that time as I recall. Was kept pretty busy trying to keep the yards under control and them looking pretty good.

Gotta get them horses all saddled up as the Memorial Day Ride is coming up starting Friday, May 26th through Monday May 29th. Well, really, you've got plenty of time yet and there's no need to get on that horse today. Sure hope there is great weather for the event. Everyone is sure to have a good time with a lot of activities going on to enjoy.

Gardeners and farmers probably needing some rain Leland said this morning, when giving the weather forecast. Whoa, I thought not in these country parts! I could go out there in the yard and pull up a weed and a quart of water could be squeezed out of it no doubt. To say the least, I'm water logged. Hopefully, we'll get that break this week. One more thing to say about just how wet it is around here, a craw-daddy I spotted getting out of the ditch line to higher ground. You know you don't see that kind of movement from a craw-daddy everyday.

Yards I got mowed yesterday and boy was it ever hot. Took several breaks to get some liquid down me and apply more sunscreen. Did not realize until the mowing was done my nose (which no sunscreen had been applied to) had soaked up more sunshine than should be allowed as it is such a rosy deep pink almost red in color and if it lasts till Christmas, I could be used as a substitute for Rudolph.

Short Mountain Market lively on Tuesday as 'Uncle Bobby' the one who usually keeps me supplied with the tuna and crackers showed up. Everyone else calls him uncle Bobby so I guess I will, too. He's fallen down on his job with the tuna and crackers. Will remind him of that on possibly another occasion, if it comes to mind. Talk about a complete turnaround with the 'little green men' going on. Bobby informed Ralph, Eric, Betty, Crystal, and me that he's negotiating (a plea deal, no that couldn't be right) a compromise so all will be happy even Clyde. This better be good or the aliens might just put him in a stew pot and serve him up for supper with some veggies on the side. Being in hot water nothing new for Bobby but just not in a pot boiling on the stove!

Mother's Day is over for another year. Hope all the mothers out there had a splendid day. Some ladies at church on Sunday wearing some beautiful hats for Mother's Day. Of course, I was wearing a hat too. It's always good to have a had handy, if your hair doesn't want to cooperate when you're in a hurry to get out the door to get to church. Sunday was one of those days but I literally had this possible catastrophe covered. It just plopped a hat on and all was well. It wasn't a sombrero but it was close.

Do keep Carlon Melton and Mai Nell in your prayers; also, Charlie Mai Daniel and Denise Stanton.
