Everything running smoothly up here on the mountain as best as I can tell this Tuesday morning. No fussing or feuding going on to cause a disturbance. This getting out on our patio early in the morning quite a treat. Got to do this more often as it gets your day off to a great start. When all you can hear is nature stirring with the sounds of birds chirping after they've had a good night's sleep, that tells the story. Maybe a slight breeze, if you're lucky, to go along with all this beauty that surrounds you. Nothing in my book any better than country living.

I talked about the Japanese beetles in the last column. Well, the very next day they were on my flowers. I applied the Sevin dust and that 'nipped it or them in the bud' as Barney Fife would say.
Rich Hobler stopped for a few minutes the other day. He drives for Huff N' Puff Trucking. He was in a hurry to get on the road to do that trucking thing that he loves to do. Beverly the better half doing fine.

Burley Bogle doing pretty good himself, when I talked with him at Short Mountain Market Saturday. That ham sandwich he was eating sure looked food. I was in the mood though for one of those delicious barbecue sandwiches that they can fix you up with in a matter of a few minutes that are to die for. I was not disappointed.

Does it seem to you like time is really flying by faster than usual these days? For instance, it's a Friday night and I just have to watch "Blue Bloods" on channel 5 and then it seems like in no time Friday night is back again. Brother tells me not to worry or fret as this is a factor that happens with the aging process. We now find ourselves in and it will only get worse. I asked how bad do you think it will get? His reply you won't know if you watched Blue Bloods or missed it entirely. My reply to him everyone should have a brother life you to encourage them in their golden years. His reply to me I'll always be there for you to answer any questions you might have about life and its looming consequences, if you live long enough I'm now seriously thinking some questions really don't need to be asked.
Moving on and we've got July 4th just around the bend to have a great time with family and friends and be thankful of the freedom we have. This is the greatest country on earth to be living in by far. Hope you all have some great get togethers and grill up some grub on the grill or maybe a good ole sit down dinner whichever you prefer. Just enjoy the day and give thanks to the Lord for it.

Won't be too much longer before garden produce will be in abundance around here. Love those tomatoes out of the garden don't you? Cucumbers next in line for me. So many vegetables to choose form. Since I don't have a garden, neighbors around here usually supply me with some of their garden goodies. I sure appreciate their thoughtfulness.
Lot of people on vacation now including the little green men. Don't know where they went and not asking, but would only hope they like the place well enough to put down roots and stay there forever more. That would get them out of our hair. I think they are a lot like rabbits once you've got them, you never really get rid of them, because they keep coming back.

Please keep these people in your prayers: Carlon and Mai Nell Melton, Denise Stanton, Charlie Mai Daniel, Bobby Taylor, Edith Miller, and Donna Lawson.
