The Woodbury Police Department recently cited three juveniles and arrested one adult in conjunction with recent burglaries in town.
On February 3rd, 2010, it was reported that someone had entered the back door at 108 W. Colonial St. and had taken several items including a printer, computer, and assorted jewelry.
On Friday February 4th, a local 17-year-old juvenile was arrested by Chief Tony Burnett and charged with Aggravated Burglary and Theft over $500.00.
Also on February 3rd, it was reported that someone had stolen three handguns from 511 Bryant Lane. 18-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Woodbury was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary and Theft over $500. Two juveniles were also cited by Sgt. John House and charged with the Burglary. Also assisting in the investigation was Asst. Chief Darrell Young.
Several vehicles have been broken into along with one residence in the Houston Hills and Beaver Dam area. We have increased patrol in these areas and are continuing to pursue leads in this case.
"I want to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to keep an eye on your community," Chief Burnett said. "Be sure not to leave any valuables in your vehicle such as cell phones and GPS units, wallets or other personal property that are easy to turn around for cash. We have seen more burglaries this month than usual."
Burnett added, "We are seeing people pawn and sell items that would indicate they have a great need for cash. Be sure you are able to identify your property. Keeping records of serial numbers is the best way to do this. When items are stolen or recovered proper identification is vital."
