One Drops Out Of County Executive Race

There is one less candidate for the job of Cannon County Executive, and one more candidate for the position of Second District Commissioner.

Kimberly Bailey, who had originally entered the county executive race when she picked up qualifying petition papers in January, decided this week to no longer make a bid to be on the ballot for that position in county government.

Instead, Bailey has decided to make a bid to become one of the two Second District Commissioners, and has picked up petition papers to attempt to qualify.

The deadline to qualify to be in the ballot for the August 5 General Election is April 1 at noon.

Candidates who have picked up qualify petitions to date, and the positions they are seeking, are:

Two upcoming locations to register to vote

The Cannon County Election Office will be going to the high school on March 30th to set up for any senior that is 17 years old that will be turning 18 this year. Seniors can complete a registration form and the office will hold it until their 18th birthday. This way they will not forget to register.

The election office be setting up at the Children's Health Fair. This will be on April 17th, location is at Lincoln Park. Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Anyone 18 years or older can come by there a register too.

If you have any questions about these two locations call the election office at 563-5650.

Notice to all voters

This is a reminder to all registered voters in the county. If you have moved you need to get your address corrected. If you have not registered to vote you need to also do this. All of this needs to be done before the election in August. You can go to the election office to get the registration form or give the office a call and they will mail you one.
