It's been 18 years since the Jackson County Lady Blue Devils and Cannon County Lionettes have seen each other on a basketball court. The landscape has changed dramatically for the Gainesboro program as the Lady Blue Devils had a tradition of deep postseasons and state championships during the era. The era ended in 2018 when Jackson County went 0-25.
The Cannon County Lionettes enter the Region 3-AA tournament as the #2 seed after losing 42-39 to Westmoreland in the District 6-AA tournament Monday. They will host the 3rd seeded Lady Blue Devils who soundly defeated Sequatchie County in the District 5-AA Consolation game Monday night 50-35.
Tonight's game will be hosted by Cannon County before the semifinal and championship games roll to Monterey High School.

Saturday the fourth seeded Cannon County Lions will travel to Jamestown to meet the #1 seeded York Institute in the first round of the Boys Region 3-AA tournament. Tipoff will also be 7:00.
