Ruth E. Smith

Ruth E. Smith, age 89, from Woodbury, Tennessee passed away with family at her side at St. Thomas Stones River Hospital on March 8, 2022.
She worked as a patient counselor at Stones River Hospital from its opening to her retirement. She loved her job. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
She leaves behind her sister, Sue Hilliard of N.J., brother Edward Gesser also of N.J. Sons James (Patricia) Smith of Murfreesboro, TN and Timothy Smith of Woodbury, TN and daughter Cynthia (Morris) Weaver of Woodbury, TN. Grandsons Carey and David Kemper, A.J. Smith, Bruce Smith; granddaughters Abigail Weaver, Alexandra Childree and Madison Smith.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents Edward Gesser and Ruth Gabay Gesser; her husband of 69 years, James F. Smith; grandson Jesse L. Kemper; three sisters Doris, Jeanne and Anita and a brother Frederic.
She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends here in Tennessee and from her hometown of Toms River, New Jersey.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
