December is a big month at the library. You are not going to want to miss a single event so get out your calendar right now to make notes.
The season is not complete without a visit from the jolliest elf of all: Santa Claus! Santa is making a list, checking it twice and visiting Woodbury one last time to meet the good boys and girls of Cannon County before Christmas Eve! Adams Memorial Library is excited to announce that Santa Claus will be stopping by on Thursday, December 21, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for pictures and all around fun! Parents will need to bring their own cameras (cell phones) for pictures.
Christmas fun wouldn't be complete without elves and reading. Our Elf on the Shelf game was so much fun last year, we're doing it again. To play, come to the library every day from Saturday, December 16 to Friday, December 22 and look through the library for our elf. The elf will move from place to place, reading a different book, each day. Find the elf, write down the location and book title on the entry form and drop it in the box. That's it. We'll have clues to help find the location or you can search for the elf on your own. You can enter each day for the $25 drawing on Saturday, December 23.
Santa has no trouble finding the perfect gift, but that might not be so easy for you. If you are looking for a unique gift that comes from the heart, come to the library and create something in our Makerspace. You can create a secret book box or a washer necklace as well as other special gifts. Your gifts will stand out on Christmas morning when you give one of a kind gifts with a personal touch. The Makerspace is always available during library hours.
Many families find the holiday season to be a difficult, especially if they are out of work. To brighten the season for young boys and girls the United States Marine Corps Reserve started the Toys for Tots program. The library is happy to be a designated "Toy Drop Off Site" for the charity Toys for Tots. Bring your new, unwrapped toys to the library's drop off box in the lobby by the circulation desk. All toys will be collected by the USMCR and distributed locally to children who are in need of toys for Christmas. Help the library and the USMCR spread Christmas cheer to little children.
Christmastime is often rushed and filled with too many activities. You can always find a quiet place to read and relax at the library and if you're looking for the Christmas spirit, you can find that at the library, too. Call 6125-563-5861 if you have any questions or need more information. We can't wait to see you!
