Sarah Ellen King Smithson, affectionately knows as Chick, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. She was 84. The daughter of the late Elvis and Bobbie Stoner King, Chick was born in Cannon Co.

She is survived by her children, Charlene (David) Odom and Greg Smithson; grandchildren, Gretchen (Clint) Higgins and Jonathan (Sarah) Odom; great grandchildren, Alana (Bailey) Hale, Ava Jane and Amelia Odom, tucker Tayes, Kole and Kennedi Higgins; siblings, Mamie Vance and John (Betty) King of Auburntown; sisters-in-law, Benny Kay McCaslin and Peggy King; best friends, Judy Holt and Dot Duggin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Smithson and her siblings, Jim Grady King, Wade King, Billy King and George King, Christine Duggin and Irene Duggin.

A member of the First Baptist church of Woodbury, Chick was known for her cooking and catering all over Cannon Co. She was especially famous for her Banana Pudding. She enjoyed feeding people and her and Judy would do so for their church family before services on Wednesday nights.

Her family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Woodbury Funeral Home and Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist church of Woodbury. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Dean Anderson and Bro. Tony Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jimmy Duggin, Randy King, Donny King, Jonathan Odom, Bailey Hale and Kole Higgins. Honorary Pallbearers, Bob Jones, Douglas Jennings, Teddy Taylor, Scott Schwartz, Jason Melton, David Duggin, Mike Parks, Lowell Womack, Alan Duggin, Derick Smithson.
