Wendell Ray Smithson

Funeral services for Wendell Ray Smithson, 70, will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Oran Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Iconium Cemetery with Woodbury Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smithson died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home from an extended illness. A native of Cannon County, he was retired from Yates Inc. in the maintenance department and was a member of the Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge of Murfreesboro. Parents were the late Lawton Smithson and Lucille Woods Smithson.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Montgomery Smithson of Murfreesboro; three children, Penna Smithson-Evans (Bob) of Edinburg, TX; Pam LeMay (Chuck) of Murfreesboro and Robert McKnight (Mary Ann), also of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Kelly Thomson (Jay), Josh LeMay, Meredith McKnight, McKenzie McKnight and Bryan Evans; great grandchildren, Brandon Thomson and Camden Thomson. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Special thanks to Dr. John Barton and Dr. Robert Clevand, their staff and the nurses with oncology at MTMC.
